We often come across people wearing eye glasses that does not suit their face cut. It is very important for every one of us to know, that glasses not just improve our eye-sight, but also change the way we look. Thus, choosing the right frame for the eyeglasses is very essential.

How do I know which eyeglass frame is right for my face?

Below is a brief description about various face-shapes and the kind of frames that suits them the best:

  • Oval:  It is considered as the perfect face shape. It generally has balanced proportions and hence nearly all kind of frames suit this face. People with oval face can opt from square, rectangular, round or any angled frame. But larger frames should be avoided.
  • Round: A round face has fewer angles as the proportion of the length and width are the same. Hence frames that are angular must be opted to sharpen the facial features i.e. makes the face look longer. Frames can also be rectangular.
  • Square: There is a slight difference between a round and square face. Although the length and width are almost in same proportion in both, the forehead is broader in a square face. Thus, oval and round frames can easily suit this shape. However, square frames must be avoided.
  • Oblong: This face has length more than its width, making it look quite big. Hence, to make it look shorter and thinner, use of broad glasses is suggested.
  • Diamond: It is very uncommon face shape and has striking features and has narrow eye line. Frames that help in highlighting the eye line, such as oval and narrow frames are considered best for this shape.
  • Heart:  This face is characterized by a broad forehead which narrows down to a small chin. They have a wide cheek bone, and thus, frames that make the chin look in proportion with the cheeks, must be opted. Round frames are just suitable, but, the frames that make the temple look broader must be avoided.
  • Triangular:  This face has a slim forehead but wider cheeks and chin. Frames that make the forehead highlight must be opted, to balance the proportion of the face. Narrow frames must be avoided.
